Internet outage for Wireless & lab computers on Thursday September 24, 2015

On Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:17 PM, a network device rebooted itself. This prevented all wireless devices and lab computers from accessing the Internet until the reboot was completed at 1:23 PM.

Update:

Same issue happened again on Friday, September 25, 2015 between 1:03 and 1:09 PM. A permanent bypass to this device has been made to avoid anymore outages.

Brightspace By D2L email delivery delay issue: September 21 and 24, 2015

CCS has received reports from users that email sent from Brightspace by D2L were delayed. Our own test has shown that emails are delayed for one hour within Brighspace, when using the built-in email tool through Classlist. This issue has been escalated to D2L and they are currently working on it. We will provide an update when we have more information.

We apologize for any inconvenience this have caused.

Update – September 22, 2015 – D2L has reported that the issue has been fixed. Our own tests this morning indicate that emails are delivered promptly.

Update – Septenber 25, 2015 –  We received additional complaints of delays of up to 3 hours on September 24. We raised the issue with D2L who reported fixing it again. We have since escalated the issue to D2L again to ensure the fix is permanent.

Emergency Brightspace by D2L maintenance: Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m.

D2L needs to make an emergency firmware update to our instance of Brightspace on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Brightspace will not be available during this time.

This update was initially planned to be included in the next scheduled maintenance window.  To ensure stability and reliability of the environments D2L needs to perform this change earlier.

Some tabs in Blackboard were redirected to the testing environment: Friday, Aug. 28, 2015

This morning at around 6:30 am, during the preparation for the switch over from Blackboard to Brightspace by D2L, some tabs (my.ryerson, Apps, RAMSS and eHR) within Blackboard were incorrectly redirected to the testing environment.  This issue was fixed at 11:30 am.

Scheduled my.ryerson outage: Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The my.ryerson portal will not be available on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. due to the switchover from Blackboard to Brightspace by D2L.  RAMSS, eHR and other applications accessed through the my.ryerson portal will not be available during this time frame.

Online Course Shell Request Form Temporarily Disabled: Tuesday Aug. 11, 2015

Since last night at 10 PM, Aug 10, 2015,  all course shell requests failed due to an error in handling them within D2L’s Brightspace LMS. We have disabled the course shell request form in the my.ryerson portal temporarily. The issue has been escalated to D2L and they are currently working on it. We will provide an update when we have more information.

Update – Auguest 12, 2015 – The issue has been fixed by D2L. We have enabled the course shell request form.

Brightspace by D2L intermittent access issues: Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Since this morning, Wednesday,  August 5, 2015 some users have reported issues when trying to access Brightspace by D2L.  At times, they will receive an “Unauthorized Access” error message, and other times they were able to login.  Sometimes it can take several attempts to access Brightspace. The issue has been escalated to D2L and they are currently working on the issue. We will provide an update when we have more information.

Update 2015-08-06: The problem has been resolved by D2L. The following is an update from their service desk:

“The issue has been fixed by our Network Operating Center.

The fix was done at about 1:40 AM EST. The issue was Server Time sync issue as one of your Webservers time was not in sync with the rest. “

CFAPs name resolution failure July 30 to August 4, 2015

Due to a recent change in DNS configuration for PC users on CFAPs, the host name resolution of any domain other than “admn” or “ac” failed. The change was reverted back on August 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM and will take effect on users’ PC automatically within 90 minutes

Ryecast Outage – Friday July 24, 2015

We are experiencing errors when trying to replay Ryecast videos.

We have contacted the vendor and are investigating to try to determine the source of the issue.

Gmail Service Delay – Thursday, July 23, 2015

At 1:20 PM, Google is reporting a service issue with Gmail. Affected users will experience delays in message delivery. CCS has also received email delay reports from users.
