my.ryerson Online Resources unavailable: Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 16:55 PM

The “Manage My Online Resources”  service within the my.ryerson portal became unavailable around 4:55 PM today, due to a disc hardware failure on the server.

Technical Support staff are currently in the process of recovering the system.

Update: Services were fully restored around 11:55 PM.

IP Phone Service Restored for 9th Floor YDI and TRS – 8:35 am, Dec. 12, 2011

Bell technicians were on-site this morning to resolve the phone outage. Service was restored as of 8:35 am.

Interruption to IP Phone Service for 9th Floor YDI and TRS – 8:25 am, Dec. 10, 2011

At 8:25 am today, it was discovered that the IP Phones for the 9th floor YDI and TRS were out of service. Bell technicians have been called.

Update: This afternoon we were notified by Bell that no service technicians were available. Bell estimates the earliest we will see a technician is Monday morning.

Phone Service Interruption – Friday, Dec. 9 2011, 5:10 PM – 5:15 PM

While investigating intermittent IP telephone problems, with Bell technicians onsite, the telephone system experienced a 5-6 minute outage, causing dial tone to be lost.

IP Phone Service Interruption – 10:40 am, Dec. 5, 2011

Since approximately 10:40 am today, IP Phone services across campus have been intermittent due to the phones rebooting.   The issue is currently under investigation with the service provider.   A technician is expected on-site shortly.

Groupwise Web Service Interruption – Dec. 4 2011, 3:55 PM to 5:00 PM

At approximately 3:55 PM one of the GroupWise servers (GW1) experienced a severe error that disrupted web access to Groupwise, as well as processing of incoming and outgoing e-mail. Services were restored around 5:00 PM.

Loss of Network Access in CCS area- Nov. 25, 2011 between 8:47 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.

A CPU in one of the network distribution switches servicing the CCS area failed-over to the backup CPU at 8:47 AM causing loss of network access for 2 to 3 minutes until the backup CPU took over.

TedRogersSchool.ca website has been compromised – Nov. 18, 2011

An externally hosted website, TedRogersSchool.ca site, has been compromised. Users visiting the site are at risk of being infected. A good indication that your workstation has been infected is that the workstation will become unusable. Unfortunately, with the infection of this type of virus, the workstation’s hard drive will have to be reformatted and the OS reloaded.

The host company has been notified and access to the site from Ryerson has been temporarily blocked until confirmation is received that this issue has been resolved. The site is still accessible from outside of the Ryerson network.

If you believe that you have been infected:
1. Turn off your workstation
2. Contact the CCS Help Desk at ext. 6806 or at help@ryerson.ca for remediation

TRS Wireless Interruption, Nov. 16, 2011 3:10 PM

The wireless network services in TRS failed at approximately 3:10 PM today, Thursday, November 16, 2011.   Technical staff restarted the services within a few minutes.

Scheduled my.ryerson.ca service interruption – Nov. 11, 2011 between 10:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m.

In order to deploy content for the Faculty Course Survey portlet, the uPortal application instances will be restarted between 10:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. tonight.  Some users may experience intermittent access issues to the my.ryerson portal during the restart of the services.
