Network outage on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 6:15 AM to 7:50 AM

On Friday, February 21, 2014, at 6:15 AM, CCS replaced the existing Internet facing firewall with a newer and much faster firewall. This caused an outage for the incoming and outgoing Internet traffic such as access to email and to Ryerson’s web server. The new firewall became operational at 7:50 AM. Email messages that were sent or received between 6:15 AM and 7:50 AM were queued for delivery and it may take a few hours before they showing up on users’ mailboxes.

RAMSS outage: Sunday, Feb. 16 2014, 2:05PM

A SAN hardware failure occurred this afternoon, Sunday, Feb 16, shortly after 2 PM.    The RAMSS services are currently unavailable.   Technical staff is onsite to address the problem and vendor support has been contacted.   Updates will be provided periodically, until services are restored.

Update 11:04 PM: RAMSS service has been restored at 11:04 PM.

Network outage for Library 2nd floor on Thursday February 13, 2014 from 7:30 AM to 9:30AM

On Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 7:30 AM, a configuration error in a network switch servicing the library 2nd floor prevented the library computers from renewing their IP address lease. The configuration was fixed at 9:30 AM  and services resumed for the affected computers.

Scheduled Central Authentication Service (CAS) maintenance: Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 6:15 am to 6:45 am

On Thursday, February 6, 2014 between 6:15 am and 6:45 am, CCS will perform necessary system maintenance on Ryerson’s Central Authentication Service (CAS) that controls the login process to my.ryerson.ca, Google Apps at Ryerson, and other services. CAS users may experience intermittent access issues.

Network outage for academic labs on Friday January 31, 2014 from 00:04 AM to 2:17 AM

On Friday, January 31, 2014, at 00:04 AM the network switch servicing the academic labs at KHW-071 and some of the management subnets became unresponsive. The switch recovered on its own at 2:17 AM.

RMS outage – Admin, Self Service and Activation – Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

The back-end server that all RMS web applications (Admin, Self Service and Activation)  connect to became unresponsive starting at 11:00 AM this morning.  The application services were restarted and full services were restored around noon.  We continue to investigate the cause.  RMS is the system that makes possible account activation at http://www.ryerson.ca/accounts/ and provides the password change, Google Token setup  and other features via “manage my online resources” inside the my.ryerson.ca portal.

www.ryerson.ca service interuption: Friday, January 31, 2014

On Friday, January 31, 2014, the installation of new code on the www.ryerson.ca server at approximately 7:30 AM, caused 4 sites to not load correctly.

Network outage on Wednesday January 29 from 6:41 PM to Thursday January 30 at 7:50 AM at POD 2nd floor

On Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 6:41 PM a portion of a network switch servicing 20 connections at the 2nd floor POD building failed. The switch had to be replaced and services were resumed on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 7:50 AM.

Ryerson Gmail service interuption on Friday, January 24, 2014

On Friday, January 24, 2014 starting at approximately 2:00 PM the Ryerson Gmail service became unavailable.  This service disruption only applies to Gmail and appears to affect the consumer Gmail as well.

CCS is attempting to contact Google support and will update this post as soon as more information becomes available.

External voice mail pre-greeting prompt change: Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014 between 8:30 AM and 9:45 AM the external voice mail greeting pre-prompt recording has been over-written by one of the phone administrators’ own greetings. The prompt has been restored back to the default one at 9:45 AM.
