Scheduled sharedata service disruption: Friday, April 19, 2013 11:00 PM – 11:10 PM
The disk storage capacity on the CFAPS sharedata server needs to be increased. We expect to add the additional storage without any service disruption, but a 5 minute interruption of the S: drive services may be required. The change will be carried out tonight, Friday April , 2013 starting at around 11:00 PM.

Network Service Disruption in TRS & YDI – Wednesday, April 17 2013 6:54 AM – 7:15 AM
A network multicast storm in the Ted Rogers School of Management caused a link between TRS and the POD building to go down. This link outage affected services in YDI and TRS this morning from approximately 6:54 AM – 7:15 AM.

Google Apps Problems – Wednesday, April 17, 2013 8:20 AM – 10:00 AM
Google Apps has had various problems this morning including inability to access GMail for a period of time. The problem appears to have started at approximately 8:20 AM. Some people report they still cannot access some Google Apps. If you have already logged into GMail it appears to still be functioning as of now (9:00 AM).
We are trying to contact google support to address the issue.
Update 9:21 AM: Google has updated their status page with more information. Click on the small dots under today’s date: http://www.google.com/appsstatus
Update 10:57 AM: Google reported at 9:51 that service was being restored. Service appeared to be back for everyone by approximately 10 AM.

Wireless Access Connection Problem – Friday, April 12, 2013 5:45 PM to 6:15
At approximately 5:45 PM one of the servers that handles wireless login requests stopped functioning. The server was restarted and service returned to normal by 6:15 PM. During the thirty minute outage no new connections to Ryerson’s wireless network were possible. There was no impact on people who were already connected. We are investigating the cause of the outage.

Intermittent LDAP authentication failures – Friday, April 12, 2013 10:28 AM AM
One of the LDAP servers used to authenticate users logging in to my.ryerson, Blackboard, eHR, Confluence, Jira and other applications experienced intermittent problems related to the amount of memory available (Java Virtual Machine heap size). This caused an intermittent response issue for these applications. The server has been taken out of the load balanced cluster of ldap servers. We are working with Oracle to tune the JVM heap size and resolve the issue.

Google Drive iOS App update causing login problems: Tue. Apr 9, 2013
The latest Google Drive application update from Google on Monday, April 8, 2013 introduced a login problem for some users with iOS devices. The new Google Drive app version is 1.3.0. Users are reporting that they are unable to navigate past the login screen. Ryerson users will see our CAS login screen without the username and password boxes. Instead, an “Application Not Authorized to Use CAS” message will be displayed. Google is aware of the issue and is working on a fix

Intermittent LDAP authentication failures – Wedn., March 27, 2013 8:10 AM
A recently introduced LDAP server used for authentication experienced intermittent problems related to the JVM heap size. This caused an intermittent response issue for various applications, including my.ryerson, Blackboard, eHR, Confluence, Jira and others. We are working with Oracle to tune the JVM heap size and resolve the issue.

CAS – Central Authentication System – Service disruption, March 25, 2013 11:35 AM – 12:30 PM
CAS, the Ryerson Central Authentication system was unavailable from 11:35 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, March 25, 2013.
This was due to an issue with a database server file system. The problem is being investigated by CCS.
Due to this outage, users were not be able to log on to Ryerson systems such as my.ryerson.ca, Blackboard, eHR, RAMSS and Google Apps.
Please accept our apologies for the problems this outage caused.

Wireless Authentication Service Disruption: Wed March 20, 2013 2:30 PM to 2:50 PM
At approximately 2:30 PM today Ryerson’s wireless authentication service stopped allowing people to log onto our wireless network. A backup authentication system was used to restore service at 2:50 PM. People already using the wireless network were able to continue working during the disruption.
We are investigating the cause and apologize for the problems this disruption has caused.
