Intermittent WiFi access on Wednesday November 14, 2018 10:30 AM

At approximately 10:30 AM today, Wednesday Nov. 14, 2018, we became aware of an issue with the Ryerson Wireless Network which has some users experiencing difficulty obtaining a connection and/or logging in. Network Engineering is currently investigating the issue with the vendor to resolve the issue. Further details will be provided when available.

Update:

The issue was resolved at 18:30 and services resumed normally

Intermittent Internet access on Friday October 26, 2018

On Friday October 26, 2018 at 8:00 AM, CCS monitoring systems indicated there is a longer than usual delay to access internet resources. The problem traced to external internet name servers. Network services team moved Ryerson to use another set of internet name servers and services resumed at 9:00 AM.

Intermittent network connectivity at SCC building on Thursday October 25, 2018

On Thursday October 18, 2018 at 9:50 AM, CCS monitoring systems indicated there is an issue causing intermittent network connectivity to SCC building. The issue with wired and wireless network connectivity was resolved and services were resumed at 11:10 AM.

The blog.ryerson.ca service was not available on Monday, October 22, 2018, between 12:30 PM and 13:30 PM. The cause of the problem is being investigated.

Network outage at BTS building on Sunday October 14, 2018 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

On Sunday October 14, 2018 at 2:45 PM, CCS received reports that the network is not fully functional at BTS building after an overnight power outage. The network switch servicing that area was rebooted and services resumed at 5:00 PM

Intermittent WiFi access on Wednesday September 26, 2018 from 9:45 to 10 :20 AM

On Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 9:45 AM, CCS received reports about intermittent WiFi access. Problem was traced to two of the WiFi controllers that had to be rebooted.  Services resumed at 10:20 AM.

Intermittent network access for the Ryerson’s residence at Jarvis St.

On Thursday September 20, 2018, CCS received reports about intermittent network connectivity from Ryerson’s new residence on Jarvis St. to the main campus. The problem has been traced to the large amount of traffic originating from a small set of remote IP addresses in the residence being throttled by one of our network security devices. The device has been adjusted and CCS is monitoring network performance.

Intermittent network connectivity at 415 Yonge building on Tuesday September 18, 2018

On Tuesday September 18, 2018 at 4:55 PM, CCS monitoring systems indicated there is intermittent network connectivity to 415 Yonge building due to overheating. Network Services staff are investigating the issue.

The network switch that is servicing KHW LABs had to be rebooted. Services resumed at 8:46 AM

Network outage in the Library building from Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 12:45 PM to Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 9:45 AM

On Sunday September 16, 2018 at 12:45 PM, CCS received reports about network outage in some parts of the library building. The problem was traced to a faulty network switch. The switch was replaced and services resumed at 9:55 AM on Monday September 17, 2018
