As announced on September 20, 2012 on the Service Alerts Blog (http://servicealerts.blog.ryerson.ca/2012/09/20/sohpos-anti-virus-software-thursday-september-20-2012/), a corrupted virus definition file was pushed by the vendor to all Sophos clients. This followed up by another virus definition update that corrected the issue. However, CCS noticed that some computers have not recovered and Sophos is not working for these computers.
You know that you are still affected if:
The easiest way to fix this problem is to open “Sophos Endpoint Security and Control”, disable the “on-access scanning” feature, restore the detected items from quarantine, clear the list, and then re-install Sophos from http://www.ryerson.ca/ccs/software/downloads/security/index.html
If you need assistance please contact the CCS Help Desk at help@ryerson.ca or at ext. 6806.

On Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 between 6:00 am and 6:15 am, the Blackboard servers will be restarted as a precaution, to avoid a possible unscheduled service disruption due to an application bug associated with the increase of database connections, which we’ve observed to be increasing. We will apply a software patch in the near future.
Blackboard, RAMSS and SoapBox availability will be intermittent during this time frame. Other applications accessed through the my.ryerson portal will still be available.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Many people using RU-Secure are unable to access the Internet. We are investigating the problem and apologize for the inconvenience this problem has caused.
Update 5:20 PM: The problem was caused by a software bug that duplicated the firewall rules in Aruba wireless controllers. This caused Internet traffic to be sent to a non-existent interface. The duplicate rules have been deleted and internet access was restored at approximately 4:40 PM.
The issue will be escalated to the vendor.
