my.ryerson and CAS, uPortal, RAMSS service interruption: Jan. 1 8:00 AM – Jan. 1 9:25 AM

At approximately 8:00 AM this morning (Jan 1, 2013) the CAS authentication service became unresponsive. uPortal and RAMSS were also affected. We believe the problem is likely the same one that affected CAS on December 26 – a problem with the SSL accelerators:

The CAS web servers have been restarted at 8:40 AM but not all services are back to normal.

While CCS did take steps following the Dec 26 problem that seemed to work during the Dec 28 and 30 enrolment periods we are investigating why the problem recurred this morning.

Please accept our apologies for the frustration and inconvenience this morning’s outage caused.

  1. I can’t pick courses online because RAMS is not working, can you guys please help me solve this issue soon or notify me when I may be able to get onto RAMS to pick courses, Thank you!

      Sorry you can’t get in. Are you getting a “Not Supported Method” error message? If you are, please trying clearing your browser history and your browser cookies.

    I am a returning continuing ed student and have reactivated my student ID but the system says “You do not have access to enrollment at this time.” Is this related to this service interruption? I have cleared my browser history and cookies.thanks. SW

      Hi Stewart,
      If you can log into RAMSS ok, then your best bet is to write to the Registrar’s office at sservice@ryerson.ca for assistance. I think they are running a skeleton crew right now, so you might get an answer before Monday. Sorry I don’t have the knowledge required to trouble shoot things like access once you are into RAMSS.

    Hi,
    I’m a returning continuing ed student trying to enrol for a winter course, but have been unable to log into RAMSS. I too, keep getting the message “Not supported method” despite configuring my pop-up blocker to allow this page,and clearing my browser history. Do you have any further suggestions?

    I have been trying to order my transcript for the past few days but I keep encountering an error message (please see below) each time I select the transcript order link within RAMSS. Any ideas?

    Error Message-
    No matching buffer found for level. (15,26)

    When retrieving data for a page, a data value was retrieved for which there was no matching data value at a higher level scroll entry. (For example, at scroll level 2, a value of ABC was read in and scroll level 1 contained this higher level field but did not have a row with a key value of ABC.) This usually occurs because of an error in a database record or view; or because of improper deletion of values in a database. Correct the page definition or contact your system administrator.

      The transcript functionality was disabled during the winter break. You were supposed to see the message below on the transcript request page and we are investigating why it didn’t appear.

      “December 18, 2012 – IMPORTANT NOTICE
      Attention: Due to the current grading functions for the Fall 2012 term, we will be unable to process transcript requests for students who were enrolled in courses for Fall 2012. Access to RAMSS Fall 2012 self-service is restricted from December 20 at 2 pm to December 25 at 8 am. This includes the Request Official Transcript link.
      We will hold transcript requests until we are able to begin processing on January 7, 2013 “

      RAMSS is down for maintenance every night from 12 to 1:30. Other than that it has been working fine.
