On Monday, May 4, 2015 at 01:19 PM, the network switch feeding some schools stopped passing traffic. This caused a network outage to RCC, Mechanical engineering, CED, IMA and Physics school. The Network Services team is troubleshooting the issue.
Update: The problem was traced to a hard drive failure in the firewall protecting these departments’ networks. A workaround has been implemented at 2:35 PM and the services resumed.

Around 5:15 PM this afternoon, CCS received various reports of connectivity issues when trying to reach external websites, including Google Apps, from within the Ryerson network. The problem cleared itself after a few minutes. Preliminary investigation indicates that a primary firewall failed over to a backup firewall appliance at about the same time the problems where reported, but further investigation will be carried out to confirm the root cause of the problem.

A problem with a switch providing the OpenVPN services caused a 10 minute service outage today, Thursday, April 23rd, starting around 3:45 PM. Sessions connected via the problematic switch would have terminated unexpectedly. Full VPN services were restored around 3:55 PM.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at approximately 12 noon, we experienced a problem with a RAMSS server. This prevented people from accessing the RAMSS application. The issue was resolved at approximately 1:15 p.m. and service was restored. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 02:30 PM, the Domain Name Servers lost part of their configuration. This prevented people from accessing many Ryerson servers and applications. The Network Services team is troubleshooting the issue.

On Friday, April 15, 2015 at 01:00 PM, the video conferencing controller failed. This is preventing users from establishing video conferencing sessions. The problem has been escalated to the controller’s vendor.

Google has notified us that there are users in our domain who are still using depreciated version 3.6 or older of the Google Sync for Microsoft® Outlook® (GASMO) client. According to Google:

On Tuesday April 14, 2015 at around 6:00 PM some users weren’t able to access neither Ryerson’s Google mail nor their personal Google mail accounts. This issue hasn’t been acknowledged by Google but services resumed at around 9:00 PM
On Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 03:20 AM, power was lost at the telecom room at the North/West corner of Kerr Hall. This caused a network outage for both wired and wireless users for this area. Campus facilities restored the power at 9:07 AM and services resumed.
