OGF & Markview service disruption: Oct. 6, 2011 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

A database level issue caused the OGF and Markview systems to stop responding around 5 PM today (Oct. 6, 2011). The problem cleared on its own around 6 PM. We are following up with the vendor to see if the problem can be avoided in the future.

Phishing E-mail Alert – October 6, 2011

There is currently an e-mail circulating purportedly from Paypal Security with the subject of: Paypal suspicious transaction.
It is an attempt to obtain your personal information such as your PayPal ID and password, SIN number, and credit card information. This information can be used for Identity theft along other illegal activities.
Do NOT respond to this e-mail. Delete this e-mail immediately.

Groupwise Service interruption – Sept. 30, 8:40 AM to 9:25 AM

At approximately 8:40 a.m. one of our GroupWise servers (GW1) crashed.  This impacted web access to email  and internet email.
The server was restarted at approximately 9:25 a.m. and service was restored.

Blackboard service disruption: Sept. 28, 2011 1:00 am – 4:45 am

One of the Blackboard servers stopped responding around 1 AM today (Sept. 28, 2011), causing a few users to experience intermittent access to the system. Other Blackboard servers were not affected. The service was fully restored at 4:45 AM.

We are still investigating the cause of the problem and will be testing a workaround to reduce the risk of similar disruptions.

my.ryerson service issues – Status Update – September 26, 2011

Following a change to the my.ryerson portal site on Friday morning, September 23, 2011, we started experiencing intermittent service disruptions with the portal.

Affected services included the Blackboard learning management system, eHR, RAMSS and other applications accessed through the my.ryerson portal.

A work around system fix was implemented early this morning and we believe that the my.ryerson portal system was stabilized.

We still do not fully understand the root cause of the problem and have engaged the vendor’s support for additional assistance in diagnosing and resolving this problem.

my.ryerson.ca service disruption: Sept. 25, 2011 2:00 PM – 5:40 PM

One of the my.ryerson.ca server instances started experiencing problems around 2 PM, causing intermittent response from the portal until 2:30 PM.  A second service disruption was experienced between 5:10 PM and 5:40 PM.

CCS staff is investigating the cause of the problems.

my.ryerson.ca service disruption: Sept. 23, 2011 5 PM – 5:30 PM

One of the my.ryerson.ca server instances started experiencing some problems again around 5 PM. The application instance was restarted around 5:30 PM and full services were restored.

my.ryerson.ca service disruption: Sept. 23, 2011 13:02 PM – 13:44 PM

One of the my.ryerson.ca portal server instances started experiencing some problems around 13:02 PM today (Sept. 23, 2011), causing some users to experience login timeouts. The application instance was restarted at 1:44 PM and full services were restored. We are still investigating the cause of the problem.

Network Interruption to Wall Outlets – 8:00 am, September 21, 2011

From 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., connectivity to the network at some wall outlets in lecture halls, meeting rooms, some offices, and the Digital Media Zone was interrupted. This also impacted the spare podium outlets in classrooms that are used for laptop network connections.
As CCS is still working with the vendor to find a permanent and reliable solution to the problem, users are advised to use the general wireless (i.e. RU-Secure) or the main podium PC instead.

GroupWise Post Office 3 (Academic users) Unavailable Sept. 21, 2011 02:00 AM – 8:20 AM

The Groupwise Post Office for the Academic community stopped responding at approximately 2 AM and had to be physically reset this morning. Services were restored at 8:20 a.m. We are investigating the reason for the system failure.
