my.ryerson service disruption: Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 8:14 PM – 9:00 PM

At 8:14 PM CCS started receiving automated reports of problems with the my.ryerson portal. All but one of the servers were offline. This may have affected some people attempting to use the portal while others may have been able to continue working normally. The servers were restarted at roughly 8:40 and CCS will continue to investigate the cause of the problem.

Update 9:12 PM: At 9:00 PM, all servers are brought up and the service is fully restored.

Sharedata service outage: Wedn. Sept. 11, 2013 09:52 AM – 10:02 AM

The ‘sharedata’ server (which provides departmental shared folders) crashed at 9:52 AM, this morning, due a bug check.   Services were restored around 10:02 AM.   We are investigating the cause of the problem.

my.ryerson service disruption: Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 1:35 PM

The my.ryerson portal became unresponsive around 1:35PM today, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.   Partial service was restored at approximately 2:38PM, but technical staff are still working on restoring full services.

It may be necessary to disable the course and organization list in the my.ryerson portal. To access courses and organizations please click on the “online courses and organizations” tab.

Update 4:15 PM: At 2:50 PM the “Online Courses and Organizations” and “My Announcements” portlets were taken offline and the rest of the my.ryerson portal was working fine. At 3:10 PM we began restoring the portlets. By 3:41 PM all portal services were restored and the system appears to be running properly. We will continue monitoring the system and working to avoid this problem recurring in the future.

Cold Fusion Service Outage: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 9:16 PM – 10:08 PM

The HR Cold Fusion application was not available this evening from approximately 9:16 PM to 10:08 PM.  A reboot of the Cold Fusion server was done to restore services.   While the server rebooted, a short outage would also have been incurred for the following Cold Fusion services:

  • ccs.cf.ryerson.ca
  • ss.cf.ryerson.ca
  • alfresco.cf.ryerson.ca

Network Outage in TRS: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 09:30 AM – 10:30 AM

On Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 9:30 AM,  the network switch that services the North/East corner on the 7th floor of the TRS building lost its configuration. This caused a network outage to workstations and phones on this portion of the floor. The network switch was restarted at 10:30 AM to restore network services.

Cold Fusion service outage: Friday, Aug. 30 2013 6:01AM – 8:00AM

The following Cold Fusion applications were not available this morning, Friday August 30, 2013 starting at 6:01 AM:

  • ccs.cf.ryerson.ca
  • hr.cf.ryerson.ca
  • ss.cf.ryerson.ca
  • alfresco.cf.ryerson.ca

A restart of the Cold Fusion services was done and services were restored at 8:00 AM.   The cause of the issue is still being investigated.

Network outage for HR

On Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 9:05 AM,  the network switch that services the HR department on the 16th floor of the YDI building lost its configuration. This caused a network outage to workstations and phones on this floor. The network switch had to be restarted at 9:34 AM to restore network services.

Partial RMail outage, Sunday, August 25 2013 6:15 AM – 8:50 AM

One of the three RMail servers that provides access to email failed at 6:15 AM and had to be restarted. Service was restored at 8:50 AM. While the system was down roughly one-third of RMail users could not read their mail. Mail that could not be delivered during the outage was queued and delivered later. We are investigating the origin of the problem and apologize for the inconvenience the outage has caused.

Network Outage for Bookstore

On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM,  the firewall appliance protecting the Bookstore failed. This caused a network outage to workstations inside the Bookstore. The firewall has been replaced and services resumed at 10:05 AM

RMS Outage – Admin, Self Serve and Activation

An  RMS service became unresponsive, starting around 1:00 PM today.   Service was fully restored around 1:40 PM.  RMS is the system that makes possible account activation at http://www.ryerson.ca/accounts/ and provides the password change and other features via “manage my online resources” inside the my.ryerson.ca portal.
