The blog.ryerson.ca service was not available on Thursday, September 2018, between 13:34 PM and  14:39 PM.   The cause of the problem was determined to be a recent software update.   The change has been reverted and the service is restored.

Wireless authentication failure on Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 7:50 AM

On Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 7:50 AM, CCS monitoring systems indicated there is a very large number of wireless devices failing to authenticate. Network Services team is investigating the issue.

Update 3:35 PM: Despite working with our wireless vendor we have not been able to isolate the problem beyond the fact that the login process is not working. As a temporary solution we are working towards making available a separate wireless network called RU-Wireless. Please use it once it becomes available until we resolve the problem with RU-Secure.

Update @ 11:20 AM, Wed, Sept. 5: The RU-Secure network is available and we are monitoring it closely. Once RU-Secure has shown to be fully stable, the temporary RU-Wireless network will be turned off. At that time, please use RU-Secure. The problem was traced to how our wireless system was communicating with the servers it uses to validate usernames and passwords.

Update @ 12:58 AM, Wed, Sept. 5: The RU-Wireless temporary network has been shut down. Please connect to RU-Secure. If you have never successfully connected to RU-Secure please see our online instructions.

Network outage at JOR & POD buildings on Tuesday August 14, 2018 at 8:00 AM

On Tuesday August 14, 2018 at 8:00 AM, CCS received reports about an outage for the wired network in the JOR & POD buildings.  The Network Services team is investigating the issue.

Problem traced to a firewall mis-configuration. Services resumed at 8:58 AM

Network interruption at RCC 3rd floor on Monday July 16, 2018 from 3:30 to 3:55 PM

On Monday July 16, 2018 at 3:30 PM, a network switch servicing the RCC building’s 3rd floor reported connectivity alerts. The switch was rebooted and services resumed at 3:55 PM

Inbound internet outage on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 07:54 AM to 09:40 AM

An unexpected network issue arose during a scheduled upgrade and reconfiguration of Ryerson’s border firewalls, starting this morning at 7:54 AM.  As a result of the change, inbound traffic for some departmental academic and admin networks was not properly routed. The root cause was identified and rectified at 09:40 AM.
