FAX Services Outage: September 7, 2011 9:25 AM – 10:00 AM

A hardware error with the server providing FAX services to various administrative areas caused a service interruption today from approximately 9:25 AM to 10:00 AM. During this period, outgoing and incoming faxes would have been deferred, and retries would normally succeed after services were restored.

GroupWise Post Office Unavailable until 8:30 AM

File system maintenance delayed the restart of GroupWise Post Office 3 until 8:30 AM this morning (Saturday Sept. 3, 2011). Normally the post office is available at 5 AM.

Network Service Interruption in POD building (1st floor): Aug. 31, 2011 09:37 AM – 09:42 AM

At 9:37 am an outage was caused by an attempt to prevent a re-occurrence of yesterday’s outage. Service was restored at 9:42 am.

Network Service Interruption in POD building (1st floor): Aug. 29, 2011 13:15 PM) – UPDATE

Starting around 1:15 PM today, Aug 29, 2011, a network failure occured on the first floor of the POD building.  The network outage seems to be limited to the .60 subnet, and is affecting the Cashiers and Registrar area.

The Network Group is investigating and an update will be provided shortly.

UPDATE: A defective network device (GBIC) was replaced at approximately 1:45 PM and services have been restored.

Groupwise service interruption: Aug. 29, 2011 7:11 am – 8:20 am

At approximately 7:11 a.m. today, August 29, 2011, an application problem caused the GroupWise server to crash. The server was re-started and services were restored at 8:20 a.m.

Network Interruption to YDI and TRS – 12:30 pm, August 24, 2011

At 12:30 pm, some users in TRS and YDI experienced a 10 minute interruption in their network service. An error was introduced into the configuration of the distribution switch for the two buildings.

Authentication Service Disruption

Due to a server configuration problem no one was able to log into my.ryerson.ca from roughly 2:00 to 2:20 PM today (Saturday Aug. 20, 2011). The problem has been fixed and we apologize for the disruption.

Interruption to Core Applications – 9:38 am, 17-August-2011

At 9:38 am, there was a 2 min. interruption in access to most core applications including Rmail and Blackboard. It was caused by a configuration error in a data centre network switch that caused the switch to reboot.

The configuration error has been corrected.

Intermittent Internet Access – 3:05 pm, August 15, 2011

At around 3:05 pm, access to the Internet became unreliable. Upon investigation, the problem was found to be external to the Ryerson network.  GTANet has been contacted about the problem and reported that it was a BGP connection problem that has been resolved.

Intermittent Access to Core Applications – 11:47 am, August 12, 2011

At approximately 11:47AM the SSL accelerator that services Ryerson WebMail had a problem with it’s dual network interfaces. The links between the data centre switches were flooded , resulting in intermittent connectivity to various core applications.
One of the network interfaces on the SSL accelerator was shut down at 12:52PM, resolving the intermittent connectivity issue.
The cause for the flooding is under investigation.
