At 8:11 AM this morning (Dec 26, 2012) both the my.ryerson.ca portal and the CAS authentication service became unresponsive. CCS staff are investigating and we will update this alert when more information becomes available.
Update 9:08 AM: Service has been restored by restarting services for both the my.ryerson.ca portal and CAS authentication system. We are investigating the cause of the outage and can see that the service is still slow for some people.
Update 8:21 PM: As a preventative measure uPortal and CAS will be restarted at 6 AM on Dec. 28 and 30 and on Jan. 1 and 3. As a result there will be a brief outage of a few minutes after 6 AM on those mornings.
Update Dec. 27, 2012 at 12:37 PM: Preliminary investigations have shown that an SSL accelerator may have been overwhelmed by requests beginning at roughly 8:03 AM on Dec 26. A second SSL accelerator has been added in order to increase capacity. Additional CCS staff will monitor systems performance during the opening of the next RAMSS enrolment period.
Note: SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a protocol designed to securely encrypt information in transit on the Internet. The SSL accelerator is a network device that provides high-speed encryption/decryption services. It improves application performance by relieving servers of complex public key and bulk encryption tasks.
Please accept our apologies for this outage.

There also appears to be a problem with the grade centre in Blackboard (faculty view). It has not been loading properly since late on the 24th.
Thanks Catherine, We’ll investigate.
Hi Catherine,
I also got the same message when checking your course ITM102.
Some users (with Instructor/TA/Builder roles) have reported the above error message when trying to load their Blackboard shell’s Grade Center.
While we don’t know the cause of this error, we do have a workaround below that will resolve the error for the time being.
Workaround
1. Go into the course shell’s Grade Center.
2. Even though the grade table doesn’t load, the menu items still work. Click Manage > Column Organization.
3. Take one of the visible columns and drag it to another position. Click Save to save the change.
4. Close the browser window.
5. Open a new browser window, and log back into your course shell. The Grade Center should load now.
Please let us know if this works for you.
Thanks,
Branka
To Whom It May Concern,
I was unable to access RAMSS (December 27, 2012) at around 9:00 PM. It showed the following message: “Not Supported Method”. Is this message/”problem” related to this interruption/outage issue occurred on December 26, 2012?
Please reply at your earliest convenience.
The problem is not related to the outage. If you see that message please check that you are using a supported browser:

Hello, please note that I am experiencing the same problem as described by Mohammad Moshin (Re message sent Dec 27, 2012 at 11:28 pm) . I am using Google Chrome and have never had to clear my cookies in the past to access RAMSS. Please advise. Thanks.
RAMSS goes down every night for maintenance between midnight and 1:30 AM so you won’t be able to try again for over an hour. If you don’t want to clear your cache and cookies you might consider using another browser.
