GroupWise Web access outage

At approximately 9:42 a.m. today, August 12, 2011, a problem was detected with the GroupWise web server. Initial investigation indicated that the web server ran out of memory. The server was re-started and services were restored at 9:55 a.m.

Scheduled power outage at 110 and 111 Bond Street on August 24, 2011

Due to installation of smart hydro meters, a short power outage (1 to 2 minutes) will occur at 110 and 111 Bond Street on August 24, 2011 some time between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Library Catalogue Server outage

The Library Catalogue server experienced a brief outage today, Tuesday July 26, 2011 between 9:09 AM and 9:38 AM due to a network cable failure. The cable was replaced and the services are fully restored.

Network Outage at the CUE building

At around 4:30 PM, the wireless microwave bridge that feeds the Centre for Urban Energy (CUE) building failed. This is the only link to the building. As a result, there is no connectivity to the internt or access to Ryerson’s VoIP telephone service from the building.

Network Services and outside support are currently working on this issue.

Campus Secuirty has also been notified.

Update: Connectivity to the CUE building was restored by roughly 8 PM but data transmission is not working at full capacity due to transmission errors. The radio on the CUE building may not be functioning properly in the heat so we are scheduling a time when it can be replaced.

Groupwise Post Office Outage (PO3) – July 19, 4:10 PM to 4:30 PM

At 4:10 pm today, the server hosting the Groupwise Post Office 3 went down due to a faulty hard drive.  The server was brought back up around 4:30 PM after the faulty drive was replaced.

Domain Name Services intermittent resolution problem

We are currently experiencing an intermittent issue with DNS (Domain Name Services) resolution of outside domains. The issue is being investigated and we will provide an update shortly.   The problem started around 2:20 PM.

Update: Our investigation could not identify any problem with internal DNS systems and we’re concluding that the source of the intermittent DNS resolution problem was caused by a temporary external factor.   The problem seems to have been resolved around 3:05 PM.

TRS Wireless Outage – 5:00 PM, July 13, 2011

At approximately 5:00 pm connectivity for wireless users in TRS was interrupted again for approximately 35 min due to the same issue as previously on the two Wireless Controllers. The wireless controllers will be rebooted later tonight to clear the problem.

TRS Wireless Outage – 12:15 PM, July 13, 2011

At approximately 12:15 PM connectivity for wireless users in TRS was interrupted for approximately 20 minutes due to an issue with the Wireless Controllers in TRS.

eHR Service Outage: July 13 01:37 AM – 07:00 AM

At roughly 1:37 AM this morning the eHR database crashed and the eHR system became unavailable until 7 AM when it was restarted. The cause of the problem seems to be related to heavy disk activity at the time. We are still trying to find the root cause.

RAMSS Outage

At roughly 3:30AM this morning the RAMSS database started reporting errors and the systems became unresponsive.  As a result RAMSS is not available. We will likely have to restart and test the database system before RAMSS can be made available again.

Update: The system was restarted and brought back online by 7:36 AM this morning. We are still looking for the cause of the problem.
