D2L Brightspace system access issue – resolved

The Brightspace Learning Management system hosted by D2L for  Ryerson  has been unavailable since approximately 4:15 PM

D2L has informed us that due to an infrastructure event, Users may be experiencing issues logging in and/or performance issues while navigating the site.

We are working with D2L to determine what is causing this service interruption.

We  apologize for this disruption in service.

UPDATE: The D2L system is now fully accessible and operational as of 6:15 PM.

Academic printing outage: Friday, December 15 2017 8:40 AM

Printing to CCS managed lab printers, including those in the Library Commons (LIB272), TRS and KHW71 was reported down at approximately 8:40 AM.   The cause of the problem was traced to a backend process that had stopped working properly.   The printing issue was resolved around 9:05 AM.

Wireless network issues – Wednesday, December 13, 2017

Wireless users connecting to RU-SECURE may experience intermittent connectivity or difficulty obtaining an IP address. Network Engineering is investigating the issue and will update as appropriate.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

eHR job postings failing: Friday, December 1, 2017

Around 8 AM on Friday, Dec. 1st 2017, job postings stopped working properly.  Technical staff are troubleshooting the issue with he vendor.  At this stage the root cause of the problem is not yet identified.

The problem was resolved on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at approximately 4:45 PM.

eHR partial service outage: Friday, December 1, 2017

Around 8:30 AM one of the eHR web servers stopped working properly.  Some eHR users, if connected to this web sever, would have experienced lack of response or an HTTP error. The web server was restarted and full services resumed around 9:00 AM.  The root cause of the problem is being investigated.

D2L Brightspace system was briefly down on Thursday, Nov 30 2017

The Brightspace Learning Management system hosted by D2L for  Ryerson  was briefly unavailable yesterday, Thursday November 30 2017.

The service interruption was first reported at about 6:40 PM and was resolved by about 7:10 PM

We are working with D2L to determine what caused this service interruption.

ARES e-Reserve service interruption on Monday November 20, 2017

On Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 around 4:45 PM to Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 around 7:30 AM, the ARES e-Reserve was down and inaccessible from D2L Brightspace course.

Ryerson Gmail Service interruption on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017

On Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 starting at approximately 10:00 AM emails to Ryerson GMail users were not delivered. This service disruption only applies to Ryerson GMail and does not impact the other Ryerson Google Services such as Google Drive, Google Calendar and Google Hangout. CCS is investigating the issue.

Update (1:33PM): The issue was resolved at 11:55 AM this morning. The root cause was a network routing issue that was a side effect of a network change made earlier this morning.

D2L Brightspace system was briefly down on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017

The D2L Brightspace system at Ryerson University was unavailable today, Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 from 12:11 PM to 12:24 PM.

We have notified D2L Network Operations Center (NOC) who is looking at the cause of this brief outage.

Wireless outage on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 3:15 AM to 7:40 AM

On Wednesday October 11, 2017, at 3:15 AM the wireless authentication servers stopped processing new authentication requests. This prevented users from accessing the WiFi networks. The Network Services team restarted the servers and services resumed at 7:40 AM.
