Blackboard outage on Saturday February 7, 2015 4 AM to 9:10 AM

On Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 4:00 AM, Blackboard became inaccessible preventing access to online courses. CCS has traced the issue to a problem with the Blackboard database server and we are working to resolve the problem. Updates to follow.

Update 9:38 AM: Blackboard was returned to service at 9:10 AM.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this outage has caused.

Please ensure that cfallis@ryerson.ca is informed and that our 9AM midterm for CFIN612 is cancelled.

  2. Hello,

still experiencing difficulties with the BlackBoard. When going into a course, clicking [Grade Centre] –> [Full grade centre], this error comes up:

    errorParsingDataMsg
TypeError: Cannot set property ‘comput_err’ of undefined

Would you please look into this.

    Thank you.

      Hi Andrei,
When first loading the Grade Center in your Blackboard course, you may see an error message something like this (and the Grade Center does not fully load):

      errorParsingDataMsg
      TypeError: colDefs[colIndex] is undefined

Some course admin users (with Instructor/TA/Builder roles) have reported error messages similar to the one above when trying to load their Blackboard shell’s Grade Center.

While we don’t know the cause of this error, we do have a workaround below that will resolve the error for the time being.
      Workaround

You must use Firefox web browser in order to complete the steps below.
It will not work in Internet Explorer, and may not work in Chrome.

Go into the course shell’s Grade Center.
Even though the grade table doesn’t load, the menu items still work. Click Manage > Column Organization.
Take one of the visible columns and drag it to another position. Click Save to save the change.
      Log out of Blackboard.
      Completely close the browser.
Open a new browser window, and log back into your course shell. The Grade Center should load now.

This problem may recur in your course. Following the steps above should, at least temporarily, resolve the problem.

      Branka
