At approximately 11:15 this morning there was some slowness detected within RMail which subsequently affected LDAP (authentication service). It was determined that an internal mass mailing was initiated that caused over 100,000 mail messages to flood the RMail system. This lasted for approximately 20 minutes.
During this period users may have received a login failure accessing some systems, including RMAIL and Blackboard.
We are reviewing the incident to determine how to prevent it from re-occurring in the future.
