Webmail service interruption – Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 3:20 PM

At approximately 3:20 PM today, Monday Oct. 24, Webmail became unavailable.  Technical staff are currently investigating the root cause of the problem.   We’ll provide an update shortly.

UPDATE: Services were restored around 4:13 PM.

    Blackboard is still down, current time 5:40. I need to access a class for important lecture notes in order to study for exam. When will this problem be fixed?

    We’re working on it. Last I heard the problem is related to a hardware device that provides encryption services (SSL). There will be a new service alert soon.

    Sorry we don’t know when we will get this fixed yet. We reconfigured the device and its internal diagnostics said it was working ok. But it is not. I’ll post updates here: http://servicealerts.blog.ryerson.ca/

    Reconfiguring the SSL accelerator is turning out to be painfully slow work. I still don’t have an estimate about when we will be done.
